Celine Dion ‘deeply touched’ by support after René Angélil’s passing

Celine Dion thanked fans Friday for their support since the loss of her husband and longtime manager René Angélil.

Angélil passed away Jan. 14 after a lengthy battle with cancer at the age of 73.

A message to fans was posted on the singer’s website and Facebook page Friday.

“My family and I are deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support from so many people who have touched our lives during these past few days,” Dion’s statement begins.

The Quebec government honoured Angélil with a national funeral, which was held last Friday at Montreal’s Notre-Dame Basilica following a day of visitation. Dion and Angélil were wed at the church in 1994.

Dion also thanked those involved in the service.

“I would also like to sincerely thank the Quebec Government for honoring René with National Funerals as well as the many individuals and organizations who came together to hold such a beautiful tribute in his name. We will never forget all of the kindness that you have bestowed upon us.”

Dion and Angélil have three sons: 15-year-old René-Charles and 5-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy.

Just days after Angélil’s passing, Dion lost her brother Daniel to cancer.

Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, where Dion currently has a residency, is set to hold a celebration of life for Angélil on Feb.3.
